Progress of the project in December 2013

 

Habitat mapping and data processing for Mt. Kallidromo.

DEM extraction from RTK-GPS measurements. Interpretation and ortho-rectification of high resolution satellite images for Mt. Kallidromo.

 

Processing and interpretation of geological, geomorphological and geophysical measurements, for map and section production. Technical report for water and soil sample processing results (dry period 2012 and wet period 2013) has been completed. Two meteorological stations were installed, in the National Park of Oiti and Mt. Kallidromo, on December 9 and December 10 respectively.

 

Preparation of the specifications for the implementation of Actions C.1 and C.6.

 

The external assistant-ornithologist made his sixteenth field trip between December 1-3, and submitted a full report.

 

Data collection was completed through data form completion and interviews with locals, mainly stockbreeders, and employees of the ELGA and the Forestry Service.

 

Analysis and evaluation of the opinion of the local community and visitors continues.

 

Preparation of the final deliverable.

 

 

-Concrete Conservation Actions 

 

Conservation and plant care works (fertilisation and weed management) of the 9,000 transplanted Cupressus sempervirens plants.

 

Regarding the wild fruit trees planting in the project area and the preparation of the relative study, contacts with the Forestry Service, the Presidents of the Local Villages, the Stockbreeder’s Association of Fthiotida and the local Stockbreeders are still in progress for more clarifications.

 

 

-Dissemination Actions

 

Finalization of the leaflet and the poster design. The project team has approved the design and the contents of the deliverables.

Preparation of the info day that will take place in Amfikleia on 18 January 2014.
