On Saturday, November 16, Minister of Environment and Energy Mr. Kostis Chatzidakis visited the Oiti Visitor Information Center in Ypati. The Minister was guided in the Center and was informed about the actions that have been implemented in both project areas the Oiti National Park and Mount Kallidromo. The visit was organized by the board and staff/experts of the Oiti National Park, Sperchei Valley & Gulf of Maliakos Management Body.

The fifth meeting of the stakeholders of the project was held in Lamia, on October 23, 2019. Representatives of the local government, community organizations, farmers and hunters, as well as members of local environmental NGOs attended the meeting. Its aim was to review the progress of the project and its achievements to date. The presentation of the achievements was followed by a discussion with the members of the Committee.

Successfully organized from 20 to 22 June 2019 by the Institute of Mediterranean and Forest Ecosystems (IMDO) of ELGO "DIMITRA" short term  training - seminar for informing farmers (breeders and beekeepers) about of the mountain pastures of Oiti and their rational management - Quality and certification of products »in Gorgopotamos Fthiotida. At the beginning of the seminar, the President of HAO "DEMETER" Professor Nikolaos Kattis  addressed the participants. Mr. Athanasios Bakalexis, Senior Advisor of HAO "DEMETER", Director of the Mediterranean and Forest Ecosystem Institute of ELGO DIMITRA Dr. Konstantinia Tsagkari,  the president of  Management Body of Mt Oiti, Kallidromo and Sperchios Mr. Spyros Rizos and the member of the Board of Directors. of the Bee Association of Lamia "The Bee" Mr. Panagiotis Margaritis. The seminars included lectures by Service Agents, Researchers and Association Representatives on "Actions to improve the mountain pastures of Oiti and their rational management - Quality and product certification". Specifically, LIFE + Nature ¨ForOpenForests¨ project recommendations were presented by LIFE ForOpenForests Project Manager Mr Christos Georgiades, the results of the actions for grazing the mountainous pastures of Oiti and suggestions for the implementation of Rational Management Madzana, the bear and livestock by Arcturos expert Ms Melina Avgerinou, forest management and beekeeping by the BoD Member. of the Bee Association of Lamia "H MELISSA" Mr. Panagiotis Margaritis, the nozzles and other tree crops from the Experimental Investigator of the Department of Endodontics of ELGO "DIMITRA" by Dr. John Manthos, edited by Dr. Dr Nikolaos Chorianopoulos, Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Agricultural Technology of HAO DEMETER, controls and certifies PDO products of animal and plant origin from the Scientific Directorate of the Directorate General Quality Assurance of Agricultural Products of ELGO "DIMITRA" Mrs. Virginia Fintani, Implementation of the Common Agricultural Policy in Fthiotida by the Head of the Regional Directorate of Thessaly - Central Greece of the OPEKEPE Program Mr. Athanassios Nathirios Valeriis Rural training of HAO "DEMETER" Mr. Athanasios Bourletsikas.

Region of Sterea Ellada's experts participated in the networking event held on Monday, September 16, 2019 between LIFE projects being implemented in Greece and Italy. Experts from Greece and Italy had the opportunity to present their projects they have implemented or are implementing that have been financed by LIFE programme. In total seven (7) LIFE projects presented during this event. The meeting was co-ordinated by Mr. Vito Emanuele Cambria from the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature (HSPN) in the framework of the LIFE PRIMED project, in collaboration with experts of the Sapienza University Environmental Biology Department in Rome. The following projects were presented by the participants during the meeting: LIFE ForOpenForests (www.foropenforests.org), LIFE PRIMED (www.lifeprimed.eu), LIFE Natura Themis (www.lifethemis.eu), LIFE Kalliope (www.facebook.com /LifeCalliope.it/), LIFE ASAP (www.lifeasap.eu/), LIFE PonDerat (www.ponderat.eu/), LIFE IP GESTIRE 2020 (www.naturachevale.it). During the networking meeting, a visit was organized to the field where the LIFE PRIMED project is being implemented in ​​the Natura 2000 area Palo Laziale network, north of Rome.

A 4-day networking visit of personnel from the Forest Service of Slovenia and the University of Zagreb with colleagues and partners from Greece who are involved in the implementation of LIFE projects was organised from 27th to 30th of May 2019. Twenty members of Environmental Scientists, Foresters, Biologists, Veterinarians, Agronomists, Communication and Awareness Officers from Slovenia, Croatia and Greece had the opportunity to present the environmental projects that were implemented or are being still under implementation in nine (9) LIFE projects co-funded by European and national financial resources.

The coordination of the organisation of the meeting from the Greek side was directed by Dr. Christos Georgiadis from the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature (HSPN) in the framework of the LIFE project "ForOpenForests". The networking actions were completed with an in situ demonstration of the installation of the special "Bear Be Gone" bin (equipped with a spraying system with pepper spray) in the village of Aetos, Florina, where a bear had appeared on the previous day, as well as a visit to the Wildlife Shelter of the Environmental Organisation “Arcturos” in Nympfaio.

Under the program “Life For Open Forests”, ARCTUROS visits schools in Lamia and Fthiotida Prefecture with the purpose of informing and raising students’ awareness for the protection of wildlife. The Environmental Education programs for brown bears and wolves are implemented in collaboration with the School Activities’ Responsible of Directorate of Primary and Secondary Education of Fthiotida. In March ARCTUROS’ Pedagogic Team carried out programs in 17 schools, and in April they will visit schools in the region of Oiti.

On December 14th, 15th  and 16 the HSPN, in collaboration with the Center for Environmental Education of Stylida - Ypati, the Directorate of Primary and Secondary Education of Fthiotida, organised an Environmental Education seminar titled "Examples of environmental education projects for teachers”. More than seventy teachers of Fthiotida Prefecture attended the seminar, which included presentations by several experts in environmental education, as well as two-days demonstrations in the field.

On 7th and 8th of December IMFE successfully organized a seminar with title "Actions to improve the mountain pastures of Kallidromo and rational management - Common Agricultural Policy". The seminar was addressed to farmers-livestock breeders-beekeepers and it was held at Local Community Office of Mendenitsa, Municipality of Molos from 15.00 p.m. until 21.00 p.m. (7th December). The first-day speeches were organized by experts. In particular, the subject of the seminar concerned: (a) the LIFE - ForOpenForests project and its actions for the improvement of Kallidromo mountainous pastures, for purposes of grazing livestock, (b) the results of the actions for grazing the mountainous pastures of Kallidromo and proposals for their rational management, (c) beekeeping, (d) food safety and quality, and modern technologies in their processing and maintenance and (e) implementation of the common agricultural policy of Fthiotida. The second-day (8th December) was carried out an informative/educational visit was organized to pastures of Mt. Kallidromo. All participants who attended the two-day seminar, free of charge, were granted a certificate of attendance.

The Institute of Mediterranean Forest Ecosystems organized on 8-9 July 2017, in Eleftherochori, Fthiotida, a seminar for the information of farmers and stock breeders about the "Actions for the improvement of the mountain pastures of Kallidromos and their rational management". The seminar was implemented under the Life + "ForOpenForests" program. On the first day speeches were held by Dr. Konstantinia Tsaggari, Forester, Director of the Institute of Mediterranean Forest Ecosystems and Dr. Konstantinos Mantzanas, Forester, Department of Forestry and Environment of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (e.g. actions of ForOpenForests program, livestock farming, meadow management etc.). The second day a training visit was organized to pastures of Mount Kallidromo.

The weekend of 3 and 4 June 2017 was successfully implemented, by the Institute of Mediterranean Forest Ecosystems, the 4rth seminar entitled "Actions to improve Oiti mountain pastures and rationalize management". The seminar was addressed to farmers-breeders and it was held at the Office of the Local Community of Neochori, Municipality of Lamia. In particular, the subject of the seminar concerned: (a) the LIFE - ForOpenForests project and its actions for the improvement of Oiti Mountain pastures, for the purpose of grazing livestock, and (b) the results of the actions for grazing the mountain pastures of Oiti and Proposals for their rational management. In conclusion, the speakers underlined that livestock farming of Oiti is important for maintaining forest grazing and biodiversity in grassland habitats but it must be organized on a rational basis in order not to harm the forest.
