Action C.6:
The two guardhouses have been constructed. Regarding the two water tanks Region of Sterea Ellada in cooperation with the Fire Brigade Services of Lamia decided to place plastic water tanks.
Action C.7:
Continuation of seed germination experiments and collection of Pinus nigra seeds from Oros Kallidromo.
Action D.1:
Field data processing. Several visits in temporary ponds in Oiti and Kallidromo.
Action E.1:
ARCTUROS is prepared the organization of three two day seminar for environmental education teachers in Nymfaio (1st , 2nd and 3rd November). Teachers will have the opportunity to visit the Rehabilitation Center for Brown Bear and the Reproduction Center of Greek Shepherd Dogs, at the same time invironmental education activities will be organized by staff of HSPN and ARCTUROS. This activity was not foreseen in the initial activities but after discussing with the experts of Environmental Education Center of Stylida-Ypati and takng in account the success of the previous three seminars organized by HSPN, the organization of this seminar is according to the objectives of the project and seems that it is necessary. The organization of the seminar is planning for October 2019.
Action E.4:
Sub-action 1: Training in in situ habitat and species monitoring and restoration
A 6-days workshop on in situ habitat and species monitoring and restoration was organized from 29/07 to 3/08 in Ypati, about Oiti (about Kallidromo the workshop will be organized in Nevember). The project team presented the monitoring methods of the priority species and habitat targeted by the project. Participants of the workshop visited the project area and they were informed about the monitoring in situ.
Sub-action 2: Educational and training of stakeholders in sustainable grassland management in accordance to the aims and the results of the project
Preparation for the organization of the 8th seminar in Lamia. The seminar will be organized from 23rd to 25th of October.
Action F.5:
On September 16th. LIFE PRIMED organised a networking event in the Department of Environmental Biology of Sapienza University. Experts from Greece (e.g. officers representing the Region of Sterea Ellada and the project) and Italy had the opportunity to present LIFE projects that have implemented or are under implementation (see Annex I). In total seven (7) LIFE projects presented during this event. The meeting was co-ordinated by Mr. Vito Emanuele Cambria from the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature (HSPN) in the framework of the LIFE PRIMED project, in collaboration with experts of the Sapienza University Environmental Biology Department in Rome. The following projects were presented by the participants during the meeting: LIFE ForOpenForests (www.foropenforests.org), LIFE PRIMED (www.lifeprimed.eu), LIFE Natura Themis (www.lifethemis.eu), LIFE Kalliope (www.facebook.com /LifeCalliope.it/), LIFE ASAP (www.lifeasap.eu/), LIFE PonDerat (www.ponderat.eu/), LIFE IP GESTIRE 2020 (www.naturachevale.it). On September 18th, a field visit was organized in Palo Laziale to verify together the actions implemented so far by LIFE PRIMED in the site and to share good practices on other restoration activities.
