Action A.2

Market research for the purchase of the two meteorological stations has been completed.

Action A.5

Creation of a draft habitat map for Mt Kalidromo, based on thematic orthophotomaps of the Forest Service.

Action A.9

The external assistant-ornithologist made his sixth (2-4/4/2013) and seventh (11-15/4/2013) field trip and submitted a full report. Bird activity was higher on this visit compared to the previous ones. All the target-species (except Aegolius funerus) were observed during these trips.

Action A10

The first field visits planed between April 23-25, however technical problems with the car forced the field team to cancel the visit.

Preparation of the two questionnaires for visitors and local people. Preparation of communication and participation strategy.

Action A.12

Research of the existing international, EU and national legislation concerning the protection and management of the natural environment in the two project areas continues.

Action C.5

Transplantation of 9.000 (to date) Cupressus sempervirens seedlings into 2 litre pots. Activities for shading, protecting, fertilizing and watering the seedlings. Plant care of 150 grafted plants established as a pilot trial.

Action C.7

Continuation of seed germination preliminary experiments for Veronica oetaea*.

Action C.8

Market research for the purchase of the 4 wheel drive vehicle has been completed.

Meetings of the project team regarding the contents and layout of the two notice boards.

The English version of the website is visible on the web (www.foropenforests.org). The Greek version is also completed and will be visible during the next days.

Action F.1

Preparation of the Inception Report. On April 17, the Project Manager organised a meeting with the Project Coordinator, the Scientific Manager, the Financial Manager and the Coordinator of Legislative Framework Actions. During the meeting the project’s implementation process was discussed.

General

On April 14, a meeting was held at the UoA involving all the project team members, in order to discuss and plan the field-work during the upcoming visits to the project area. Preparation for the field team visit to the project areas, which will take place from 9 to 12 May. Experts from the UoA and the IMEF will participate, as well as team members from the HSPN.
