The external assistant-ornithologist made his fourth field trip on 12-14/02/2013 and submitted a full report. Bird activity was higher on this visit compared to the previous ones. Dendrocopos leucotos was recorded at 3 sites (one on Mt. Kallidromo, and two on Mt. Oiti: at Kastanies and Louka). Dryocopus martius was seen also in Louka, attracted by playback calls.

Planning the working team and the timetable of the action. The preparation of the field protocol has been completed. The first field visits have been planed for late March.

First contacts with the Special Secretariat for Forests, Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate Change. Study for the wild fruit tree habitat status in the project area initiated. In March we will have more clear needs regarding the licensing status for planting fruit trees.

On February 18 the Scientific Coordinator presented the project to the members and friends of the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature.

The English version of the website is completed and is visible on the web (www.foropenforests.org). The Greek version is under construction and will be ready at the end of March.
Action F.1
On February 19 the Scientific Coordinator with the Project Manager, the Deputy Scientific Coordinator and the Legislative Framework Actions Coordinator visited the Region of Sterea Ellada, and had a meeting with the RST project team. Then, the project team visited the Forestry Service Directorate in order to inform its staff about the project actions. On February 28, a meeting was organized in the offices of the Institute for Mediterranean Forest Ecosystems and Forest Products Technology, between the Project Manager, the Scientific Coordinator and the Institute’s project team, to discuss administrative issues.
