Presentation of the results regarding the grasslands monitoring in Oiti to the livestock farmers of the villages located on the western part of the mountain in the framework of the fourth seminar of farmers’ training held in Neochori. Preparation of the 2nd progress report for the action.
On 13th of June a field trip was organized in the area. Mr Kostas Stefanidis from ARCTUROS visited the project area and organized several meetings with beekeepers, livestock breeders, ELGA, Forestry Services etc.
The forth seminar was successfully organized by IMFE on 3rd and 4th of June 2017. The title of the seminar was "Actions to improve Oiti mountainous pastures and rational management". Farmers-breeders were participated in the seminar and it was held at Local Community Office of Neochori, Municipality of Lamia from 12.00 a.m. until 17.00 p.m. During the first-day an informative/educational visit was organized to pastures of Mt. Oiti. The second-day experts of the projected presented the actions and the results. In particular, the subject of the seminar concerned: (a) the LIFE - ForOpenForests project and its actions for the improvement of Oiti mountainous pastures, for purposes of grazing livestock, and (b) the results of the actions for grazing the mountainous pastures of Oiti and proposals for their rational management. Subsequently, the share of the pastures was carried out by the breeders. All participants who attended the two-day seminar, free of charge, were granted a certificate of attendance.
